The global Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12.5 update is finally seeding. That was expected after the Chinese models received the update a couple of days ago to hint at imminent global release. However, the update is a limited rollout, and as such, would arrive for select users for preview. Luckily, there haven’t been any reports of serious bugs since the rollout started, so we expect a public release in the coming days.
The global Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12.5 update is based on Android 10 as expected. However, it brings the features of the new MIUI OS, which include that of Android 11. With MIUI 12.5, Xiaomi has improved gesture response time, enhanced security, introduced new system sounds, and made it possible to uninstall some system apps. However, for some reason, it seems you can’t uninstall system apps just yet.
Aside from the new features, the update has bumped the Android security patch level to June 2021 to increase system security and stability. It has also addressed some of the bugs left by MIUI 12, and you shouldn’t worry about Google Play Services as the update is a global build with working Google Mobile services. It has a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 QFGMIXM – and weighs in at 862MB. You can check the update via the Updater app or use the link below and download it.
Meanwhile, the update is exclusive to Mi Pilots at the moment. It will take some days before going public, and as such, you will need an authorized Mi Beta account to flash the ROM. Also, you can flash using TWRP recovery or wait for the OTA. As per when the update will arrive in other regions, there’s no ETA, but you can follow our tracker page to stay updated.
