While Xiaomi has upgraded the OS version of the Redmi Note 7 Pro device in China, the global users are currently waiting for the update. Given that the update arrived weeks ago, it is supposed to have started arriving for the global users, but it seems the plan is to release the update alongside stable MIUI 12.
According to a Device Team member reply to a user query in Xiaomi Global Mi community, Global Redmi Note 7 Pro Android 10 based on MIUI 12 is currently on Beta testing in India. For the records, only Redmi Note 8 Pro is currently testing MIUI 12 globally even though both Redmi Note 7 and POCO F1 users were recruited at the same time for the beta test. Perhaps, Xiaomi didn’t make that of Redmi Note 7 Pro public, but that’s a big doubt because no single person in each of the Redmi Note 7 Pro groups has reported getting MIUI 12.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro currently testing MIUI 12 are those running Chinese ROM. There’s no ETA as to when the update will start arriving on the global version, but recent reports suggest the ending of this month. However, we might see the Global Redmi Note 7 Pro Android 10 update with MIUI 11, since the beta testing for the global unit is yet to commence.
Nevertheless, Xiaomi knows how to surprise its users, and as such, it might be true the device is testing MIUI 12. But few things are certain here – the Redmi Note 7 Pro having debuted with Android 9 based on MIUI 11, is eligible for both Android 10 and MIUI 12. The only thing that’s not certain at this point is the ETA, but expect either of the two to start making its way to the device very soon. We’ll keep you updated in case of new development as regards update for Redmi Note 7 Pro.
