Google Camera 8.7 for Older Pixel phones is now available for download

It’s conventional for the Big G to release a new Google camera version at the release of a new version of the Google Pixel series. Following the debut of the sleek Google Pixel 7 series, the brand included the Google Camera 8.7- this is one of the supposed features that makes the Google Pixel 7 series house the best picture and video quality yet on Pixel. Well, the brand is rolling out the Google Camera 8.7 to older Pixel phones so they can get a taste of this good quality.

The Google camera on the Google Pixel 7 received a slight update to the version already present on this smartphone. It brought in a traditional Macro Focus mode and Familiar Faces, a feature that has disappeared since May. The camera update(along with the Google Camera 8.7) will be rolling out to all the supported devices of which the Google Pixel 6 is included.

Another feature from the Google Camera 8.7 update

Alongside the Familiar Faces and the Macro Focus mode, Pixel users get the ability to choose where to save a photo(either in the Gallery or a Locked Folder) by simply long-pressing the preview of your last photo.

While it’s interesting to note the tweaks brought to older Pixel phones via the new update, it is also worth noting that the Google Pixel 6 series is still missing a feature from the Google Pixel 7 series after installing the Google Camera 8.7 update.

It’s the “ability to fine-tune the amount of exposure time taken for Night Sight shots.” This feature is accessible on the Google Pixel 7 series via an indication next to the zoom slider. That said, older Pixel phones without the feature can get an automatic timer for Night shots. According to 9to5google, the feature has landed on the Google Pixel 6 Pro and will probably get to the older Pixel series very soon.
