The June 2023 Android 13 QPR3 Feature Drop is now rolling out. Check details below…
The June 2023 security patch should have arrived on Google devices as it is customary for the Big G to release security patches at the beginning of every month – sadly, that’s not the case. Google not only delayed the June 2023 security patch update but also the Android 13 QPR3.
Further details on the June 2023 security patch and Android 13 QPR3 delay
As of yesterday, the stable release of Android 13 QPR3 had not been announced. However, the Android Security Bulletin for June 2023 is available, providing details about the June patch for Android 13. The patch, dated 2023-06-01, addresses 23 security issues, with an additional 34 fixes included in the 2023-06-05 patch. Google has warned about the potential limited and targeted exploitation of CVE-2022-22706, a high-severity vulnerability that affects ARM Mali GPUs.
The Android 13 QPR3 Beta Program has had some inconsistencies, with Beta 1 being released in mid-March, Beta 2 in under two weeks, and Beta 3 arriving three weeks after that. Beta 3.2 was released in mid-May. It is possible that the proximity of the Android 14 release schedule may have influenced these timing changes, and there may also be considerations related to the release of Pixel Tablet and Fold devices with Android 13 QPR3.
With the arrival of the June 2023 security patch, many devices should receive the update soon, along with the eventual release of Android 13 QPR3. Meanwhile, Android 14 is garnering attention for its new features, and the consumer launch date is getting closer as the Android 13 era gradually comes to an end.
