Amidst the whole update saga, it has been confirmed that the Big G is working on another new Chromecast with Google TV. The Chromecast with Google TV has seen a few changes in the past few years. In 2020, the brand opted for the Android TV (Google TV), which is a replacement for the Cast OS.
The brand termed the new Chromecast with Google TV (as of then) to be “Chromecast with Google TV (HD)”. The whole experience was still there and Google made sure to keep the price point at an affordable figure. While it is nice to applaud the brand for making such changes, both the Cast OS and the Google TV weren’t without faults – each had its issues. Two of the issues are the storage space and the reduction in performance efficiency.
The new Chromecast with Google TV
The new Chromecast with Google TV spotted was via the Home app where the company included preparation for a new device called the YTC. Further confirmation of the new Chromecast with Google TV was seen elsewhere in the code as it was termed that, alongside the Chromecast HD(YTB) and the other Chromecast with Google TV, YTV.
We believe that Google will release a new Chromecast with improved features to replace its current flagship offering, as they have already released a lower-end model. However, we currently do not have any confirmation on the specific specifications of this new Chromecast. We hope that the new Chromecast will have more storage and a better processor, as the Android TV’s hardware requirements have recently changed.
In addition, it would be great if the next Chromecast included a second USB-C port for connecting accessories or additional storage. Currently, users need to purchase a separate USB-C dock/dongle with passthrough power, which also disallows the use of Google’s official power adapter with Ethernet. Well, let’s wait and see what the brand has in store for us, users.
