Here’s the crux of the matter: Google Messages will soon allow users to react with any emojis soon. Usually, we get 7 emojis when you long press a chat with which you can choose any that suits your reaction. You will notice thumbs up/down, a Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes, a Face with Tears of Joy, a Face with an Open Mouth, a Crying Face, and an Angry Face and if you choose to not react with any, you can tap on the “plus” icon to pick from the mine of emojis.
Mine of emojis as in, the emojis you’ll notice when you tap on the icon next to the microphone on the message feed. Recently, Google Messages allows the recently used emojis to appear at the top row of the mine of emojis. That said, we don’t know if Google is planning to replace the “seven emojis” with the recently used ones.
Well, you can get to react with any emojis you choose(for a more precise reaction to messages) by tapping on the bottom right corner of the message tile. According to 9to5google, this feature is not widely available just yet, although it might have arrived on the beta channel.
Not just Google Messages
Speaking of tweaks, Google has been rolling out some interesting features to other apps. We have the live view Search feature on Google Maps that uses the augmented reality Google talked about two months ago.
The feature uses colourfully-painted pins to highlight places that are within your position(view) while showing another(Out of view) which shows you can’t access that at a glance. Furthermore, having seen the places on Google Maps, the icon, rating as well as other information will be tagged along with it.
Meanwhile, you also get categories (like Restaurant, School, and Hospital) together with filters like (Open now, and Top-rated) to help with your navigation. There is still a lot more to expect from Google this season, especially the new Android 14.
