Contrary to early reports that Pixel 3a and 3a XL last update arrived with the May security patch, Google has promised one bug fix update by July. Launched in May 2019, the duo completed their three-year support period when they received the latest security patch, but as usual, Google will roll out a new update in the coming weeks to patch bugs.
The Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL were among the best affordable phones released in the US in 2019. It didn’t feature the most sophisticated specs, but it was a value for money smartphone. The devices have been getting maximum support, software-wise, but that is coming to an end soon.
According to a Google spokesperson, Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL last update will arrive by July. That doesn’t mean the device will receive a new update in June or July when Google starts rolling out security patch updates. But by July, the device will be receiving its last update, having reached end-of-life software-wise. Hence, only one last security patch will arrive for the duo.
Below is the official statement from one of Google’s spokesman:
In May 2019 at the launch of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, we announced that the devices would receive three years of software updates and three years of security updates from when our devices first became available on the Google Store. The final update for Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will roll out to users by July 2022.
Perhaps, it would be a nice time to deliberate on your next device, and with Google announcing the Pixel 6a in the coming days, you might want to check that out.
