Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro users report dead spots on their display

Google Pixel 7 series, like other phones, has its share of bugs. The latest flagship device has been in the news for a scrolling performance issue, which the company is expected to address with an upcoming update. They might also resolve the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro dead spots display.

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro users report dead spots on their display

According to reports from Reddit via Phonearena, Pixel 7 series users are getting a “random dead zone” on their Pixel 7. The issue is probably occurring randomly, given we have only seen a few reports about the current situation.

Meanwhile, users have been experiencing the issue, hence, it didn’t start after the February 2023 security patch update. From the reports on Reddit, the dead spot display bug has been there for some time and surfaces several times a day.

Initially, the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro dead spot was believed to be an issue with the screen protector, but that isn’t the case. Although using an unofficial protector can result in something similar, the current situation is different since switching between enabling and disabling screen protector mode didn’t affect the outcome.

How to fix the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro dead spot on the display

Google is yet to respond to the issue, and hopefully, they’ll include a fix on the March security patch. Meanwhile, according to a Redditor, that has experienced the bug, closing all active apps and returning to the Home screen can fix the issue. Hence, we recommend anyone facing the same problem use the quick fix pending when Google addresses the issue.

It’s probably a software issue, which the company can address with a software release. We also understand that Pixel 6 users experience the problem, but it seems better managed on last year’s flagship device. And while Pixel 7 users get a dead zone below the display, Pixel 6 users have theirs occur on top of the panel.
