Google Pixel 8 price tipped ahead of official launch

According to Yogesh Brar, the Google Pixel 8 Price is expected to be $650 or $700, which would be a $50-$100 increase compared to the previous year’s model. This pricing applies to the base memory configuration, featuring 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It should be noted that the Pixel 7a already set a precedent by being $50 more expensive than the Pixel 6a, suggesting that the Pixel 8 series may fall outside the $600-$900 range.

Other than the Google Pixel 8 Price

The Pixel 8 is rumored to come with several enhancements, including a brighter 120Hz display (although slightly smaller) and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner instead of an optical one. Brar also confirms previously reported specifications, such as updates to the battery system, which is expected to have a slightly larger 4,485mAh capacity with 24W wired charging and 12W Qi wireless charging. It’s worth mentioning that non-Qi wireless charging may reach up to 20W according to some sources.

Meanwhile, on camera, a leak reveals that both Pixel 8 models will see enhancements in their ultrawide cameras. The Pixel 8 Pro’s ultrawide camera is said to feature a 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor, a notable upgrade from the 12MP sensor traditionally used by Google for ultrawide photography. However, it’s worth noting that the Pixel 8 may not include the macro function found in the previous Pixel 7 Pro.

The telephoto lens and selfie shooter on both Google Pixel 8 models are reported to remain unchanged. On the software front, the Google Camera app is expected to receive three new features. These include level selection for the artificial bokeh effect in videos through “Cinematic” mode, “Adaptive torch” which adjusts the LED flash strength based on the recording scenario, and “Segmentation AWB,” an AI-driven feature that divides the captured scene into separate areas for more effective processing.

It remains uncertain whether the Google Pixel 8 Pro will also see a price increase, considering that previous Pro versions were already $300 more expensive than the standard models. It’s important to note that these price estimates are specific to the United States, and pricing in other regions may vary. Brar predicts that the Pixel 8 series will be launched in early October, following a similar timeline to the Pixel 7 series last year.
