Google Pixel 8 Pro users report Always-on Display text issues

Google made substantial improvements with the Pixel 8 Pro display compared to previous generations of Pixels. It’s the best the company can offer yet, but it seems to have some little issue, given the recent reports.

Pixel 8 Pro Always-on Display issues

The Google Pixel 8 series started shipping last week, and as expected, there are many reports about the device. While many of these reports have been positive, there seems to be a negative issue about the Always-on display texts. It doesn’t seem like a big problem, but it has caught the attention of many issues.

The display issue being reported by the Pixel 8 Pro users is while the device is on the Always-on Display. Meanwhile, the issue doesn’t affect the entire screen but only a small portion, mostly on the side or top of the display. These problems see text change color from white to pink/yellow and mostly happen in low-light environments.

As usual, not everyone is having the issue, which suggests it’s likely not a software problem. Also, those running stable Android 14 QPR1 beta update are reporting the issue. Interestingly, only Pixel 8 Pro users seem to have the problem, and it would be interesting to see what Google says about it.

Nevertheless, it does seem like what the company could address with a software update. Most people seeing yellow/pink text on the Always-on Display see the color fix itself once they tap on the screen, making it flash without exiting AOD. Similar issues were reported by Pixel 6 Pro users, which the company addressed with a software update, and we are optimistic they’ll do the same this time.
