Google Pixel Tablet to get official keyboard and Stylus

The Google Pixel Tablet has been launched and the tech piece is off to a good start showing incredible features in bothe hardware and software. One feature that distinguishes the Google Pixel Tablet is the interconvertibility from the tablet + dock combination to just a portable tablet – Google made a wise move by including the Pixel Tablet with the $129 Charging Speaker Dock. That’s not the focus today, by the way.

Google Pixel Tablet’s official keyboard and stylus

According to data seen by Android Authority, it appears that Google may be preparing to release an official keyboard and stylus attachment for the Pixel Tablet. Renowned Pixel leaker and Android Authority writer Kamila Wojciechowska previously mentioned these accessories, the “Stylus for Pixel Tablet” and “Keyboard for Pixel Tablet,” which are said to be in development.

Recently, developer Pratyush discovered a URL that connects to the current version of the Pixel’s Retail Demo software, which is designed to secure display devices in retail stores and showcase various capabilities. Within the “PixelSetup Wizard Overlay” APK, the URL leads to the newest version of the Retail Demo app and contains strings explicitly mentioning a “Keyboard for Pixel Tablet” and a “Pen for Pixel Tablet.”

Although the Retail Demo app does not provide images or pricing details for these accessories, the fact that these strings are found within an official Google-made app suggests their authenticity and Google’s intention to feature them in retail stores.

Furthermore, there is substantial circumstantial evidence supporting the existence of official keyboard and stylus accessories for the Pixel Tablet. The Google Pixel Tablet’s official product page mentions support for USI 2.0 stylus pens, and Google has been enhancing stylus support in Android 14, hinting at a first-party stylus accessory. Additionally, Android 14 includes several improvements for physical keyboards, such as keyboard shortcuts, touchpad gestures, modifier key remapping, and backlight support, indicating the possible release of the “Keyboard for Pixel Tablet.”

While specific details and pricing remain undisclosed within the Retail Demo app, the inclusion of these strings within an official Google-made app strongly suggests that these accessories are real and will be featured in retail stores in the future.
