It seems the May Android security patch update left some bugs. The update which arrived with a build number MIUI 11.0.4.0 QGGMIXM for the global users also arrived for the EEA users but had a different build number – MIUI 11.0.3.0 QGGEUXM.
Aside from the new security patch, the update also came along with Android 10. It was supposed to be the final phase of the update, but unfortunately, some users are yet to get Android 10 on their Redmi Note 8 Pro. While the update is working perfectly on other ends, GPS on Dual app has stopped working.
According to feedback on the Mi community forum, the update left a bug. GPS on the Dual app doesn’t work again. The issue started after the last stable update that was sent to the device, and sadly, it’s affecting the Indian, Global, and EEA users.
The good thing is that Xiaomi has acknowledged the bug and promised to fix it in the next update. However it might take a while before a new update is available for the update, especially now that MIUI 12 is on the horizon.
Meanwhile, a user in the community suggested a factory reset might fix the problem, but that’s probably a long shot. We can’t confirm if performing a factory reset will fix the issue – ‘GPS on Dual app not working’. However, if you decide to try that out, make sure to take a full backup of all your files to a safe location.
Nevertheless, we recommend you wait for the next Stable update, which is likely to be the MIUI 12 update. The update will arrive with a new System UI, Floating Windows, Dark Mode 2.0, New Camera functions for selected Xiaomi phones, and Unify font. You can follow this link and check when your device will be getting the update.
