One of the issues facing Samsung smartphone users is the green line problem. These lines appear from nowhere and stay on the screen, impacting users’ experience. It was reported widely some months back by the Galaxy S20 series phone users, and it has moved to the Galaxy S21 series and Galaxy S21 FE.
Samsung users have been the most affected by the green lines issue. It’s not like other phone users are not reporting these problems, but they affect Galaxy phones more. Interestingly, most non-Samsung devices with green line problems had their displays supplied by Samsung, which points to a hardware problem. Still, one may think otherwise, considering how the issue mostly starts.
Many people reported the Green Line issue after installing a software update sometime last year. A current report shows the same is happening to Galaxy S21 series phone users. This particular user saw a green line after updating his Galaxy S21 FE to the latest security update. Samsung has since reached out, saying they will look into it and hopefully resolve the issue.
We understand both Snapdragon and Exynos-powered units are having these issues, which rules out the possibility of the problem being linked to the chip inside these devices. However, it looks like a hardware issue when you look at it, as the only way to successfully resolve the problem is to replace the affected display. Unfortunately, Samsung has been rejecting or ignoring the complaints, often asking the user to pay a fee for screen replacement.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 in January 2021, while the Galaxy S21 FE arrived a year later in 2022. These phones have been around for only a couple of years and already have serious hardware defects, which raises questions about whether Galaxy phones will still be usable after seven years, given the company’s new update policy.
How to fix the green line issue on Samsung phones
The only way to successfully resolve the issue is to replace the affected display. Customer care service always asks you to reboot or check for updates when you contact them, but this doesn’t work. Sometimes, the lines might disappear after rebooting your device, but they will appear after a few minutes.
Nevertheless, you should contact the company if experiencing the same issue. They will probably recommend replacing the damaged display, but make sure to get a good deal, as we believe the company should take responsibility for these problems since they keep happening.
