It has only been a few months since the iPhone 15 series debuted, but Apple is already working on its successor. The iPhone 16 series will not arrive until September 2024, but we now know what they might look like, thanks to the latest prototype. Interestingly, Apple seems to be experimenting with a new back design for the iPhone 16, with most of the changes coming on the camera set-up.
Apple iPhones have maintained the same design for all models, especially their camera arrangement. With the iPhone 16 series, Apple might go for a different camera design as new renders suggest the vanilla version will feature the iPhone X camera set-up of a vertical pill housing dual camera sensors.
From the image below, all iPhone 16 phones will have a unified volume rocker button, with Apple ditching the separate volume up and down buttons. Also, the capacitive Action Button is coming to all models, but there are minor changes in their sizes. The base iPhone 16 has a small button above the volume rocker, while the Pro models feature larger buttons and spot the familiar camera arrangement of the iPhones.
With the iPhone 16, Apple will introduce a new capacitive Capture Button. It is probably exclusive to all the iPhone 16 models and located on the right frame. The button will likely feature a force sensor and a “tach-switching” functionality.
There are no changes in front of the iPhone 16 series. All models will use the Dynamic Island, while the vanilla model will use the same panel as the predecessor. Of course, Apple will continue with a USB-C port, which is always at the bottom of every device.
Apple iPhone 16 series color options
While it is still early to say what colors the iPhone 16 series will debut in, the early prototypes have given us a clue. We might see the device arrive in yellow, pink, and midnight black.
