Xiaomi MIUI is up there with the best Android skin with its vast features. You’d be surprised that after years of using a Xiaomi phone, there are features you don’t know exist. Interestingly, these features don’t require a third-party app as it can be enabled to function on its own. One of such is casting or mirroring. This feature allows you to connect Xiaomi Android phones to a Smart TV. If your TV is not smart, you should make use of a USB or HDMI cable.
Casting or wireless screen mirroring is an inbuilt feature on MIUI that allows you to connect Xiaomi phones to a Smart TV to display the content on a larger display. When your Xiaomi phone is connected to your TV, all the activities will display on the monitor. It comes in handy during gaming or streaming a football match.

Before this can work, there are some prerequisites. You’ll need a wireless network (Wi-Fi) to connect both your TV and Xiaomi phones. (Both phone and Tv should be on the same wireless network). And make sure your TV has Wi-fi before proceeding, otherwise make use of a cable. Also, you need to enable all the Cast App permission for a seamless connection.
- Step 1: Connect your Xiaomi phones and the Smart TV to the same Wi-Fi network
- Step 2: To start casting, pull down the control center and tap on casting or go to Settings >>connection & sharing >>Cast; enable the toggle
- Step 3: Your device will start searching for available TV, not the same Wi-Fi
- Step 4: Select your Smart TV to complete the connection
- Step 5: That’s how to connect Xiaomi Android phones to a Smart TV
Luckily, the screen casting on MIUI comes with some features to conceal your privacy while casting. You can minimize the window that’s being cast to use other features on your phone. Also, you can continue casting when your Xiaomi phone display turns off. Interestingly, you can choose to hide incoming notifications, phone calls, and other private stuff from the external monitor. You can access these features under Settings >>connection & sharing >>cast.
