Google promised – sometime in November last year – that by using Gmail, users could track their shipments without the hassle of going through those confusing shipment emails. It was a pretty handy feature but it didn’t materialize in time for reasons unknown. Thankfully, the Gmail package tracking feature is live, and you can enable it on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
Steps to enable the Gmail package tracking feature
After installing the latest update for the Gmail app, you just need to enable the Gmail package tracking feature manually from the app’s settings menu. Notably, it is only available on Android and iOS through the Gmail app. To enable this feature, you need to launch the Gmail app and tap the hamburger icon on the top left corner of the app. Then select Settings and select the email account.
On your Galaxy device, you will find the Package Tracking option. After you have enabled this feature, when you open a shipment email and look at the dynamic information in a card at the top of your inbox with delivery status information, you can see whether your package has shipped or is in transit or has been delivered.
This Gmail package tracking feature should work with all major carriers, although Google hasn’t provided the names of supported carriers. However, we can see that the feature works for Amazon packages. Gmail will show you updates when your package is delayed and show the shipping email at the top of your inbox if there’s an important update about your package.
