How to Find Your iPhone With Your Apple Watch

See the location of your missing device on a map

The Find Devices app can show you the location of your device as long as it is online. However, for some supported devices, the Find Devices app can find the device even if it’s turned off, in Low Power Mode, or in airplane mode.

Here’s how to see the location of your missing device:

  • Launch the Find Devices app on your Apple Watch, then select a device.
  • If your device can be found, it will appear on the map and you can see its location. You will also see its approximate distance, the last time it was connected to the internet, together with its charge level. All these will appear above the map. Below the map, you will see its approximate location.
  • If the device can’t be located, you’ll see “No location” under the device’s name. To get notified when it’s found, turn on Notify When Found under Notifications.

Find your iPhone with your Apple Watch by sound

  • Launch the Find Devices app on your Apple Watch and select a device.
  • Tap Play Sound.
  • If the missing device is online, a sound starts playing after a while, and then gradually increases in volume and plays for up to two minutes. The device may begin to vibrate, and an alert appears on its screen. A confirmation email will also be sent to the linked email address of your Apple ID.
  • If the device is offline, the message Sound Pending will be displayed on your Apple Watch and the sound will begin as soon as your device connects to the internet.

Get the direction of your missing device

After using the above methods to see the location of your device, you can get the direction to the location using the Maps app on your Apple Watch. Here’s how:

  • Launch the Find Devices app on your Apple Watch
  • Select the device you need directions for.
  • Tap Directions to open Maps.
  • Select the route and you will see the directions to the missing device from your current location.
