Xiaomi MIUI remains one of the best Android skins out there, and with the unveiling of the MIUI 12, lots of features are being added, making it even better. Built into the system are amazing features that’ll allow you to customize your Xiaomi Android phone without a third-party app. Some of them are easy ways of grabbing a screenshot, customizing your display, and hiding apps.

However, in this post, we are taking on the last one, which is how to hide apps on your Xiaomi Android phones. You can indeed use third-party apps to do this, but with the in-built Xiaomi feature, you don’t need any. Also, you can decide to lock the app without hiding it, but anytime you want to launch the app, it will ask for a password.

Perhaps, hiding the app is the best option because no one engages with an app they don’t see. Also, you start using the apps once you reveal them, without having to input your password. Without further delays, let’s jump to how to hide apps on Xiaomi Android phones.

Luckily, it works on all Xiaomi phones. You only need to follow the steps carefully and get it working on your device.

  • Step 1. Head over to Settings
  • Step 2. Click on Apps >> App lock >> Turn on the App lock
  • Step 3. On the top bar where you have ‘App Lock’, there’s ‘Hidden Apps’ next to it. Click on it
  • Step 4. Find the App you want to hide and turn on the toggles.
  • Step 5. On completion, you won’t see the apps on your home screen again

To reveal the hidden apps, spread or expand your two fingers on the phone’s home screen. It will show the hidden apps, but you first have to enter the password. ( Refer to the image above)

Note: this feature might not work on third-party launchers. I tried it on my device POCO launcher, and it doesn’t seem to work, but you can always try. Also, it’s very easy to switch between launchers on Xiaomi phones, so you try different launchers.

Actually this method doesn’t pick all apps. There are loads of apps which are not listed through this method.
