4 Ways to Repair Windows 10 and 11

Method #1: Using Startup Repair

When your Windows 11/10 isn’t working properly, one of the first steps you can take is to use the Windows Automatic Repair utility. This tool can help fix issues related to system booting. To run Windows Startup repair, follow the steps below:

  • Insert your Windows 11/10 installation disk or USB into your computer
  • Restart your computer and boot from the disk or USB
  • On the “Windows Install now” screen, click “Repair your computer”
  • From the “Choose an option” screen, select “Troubleshoot” and then go to the “Advanced options” window
  • Select “Startup Repair” and Windows will begin diagnosing your computer

After the process is complete, the issue with your Windows 11/10 startup may be fixed

Method #2: Run SFC Tool

If some system files in Windows 11/10 are corrupted, it can cause the operating system to malfunction and stop working. To fix this, you can use the System File Checker (SFC) tool to scan and repair system files. Here’s how:

  • Click the search button and search for “Command Prompt“
  • Right-click the icon and select “Run as administrator“
  • In the Command Prompt window, type the command: sfc/scannow and press “enter”

The SFC will scan your system and verify that the protected files have not been corrupted or changed. If it finds any issues, it will repair or replace the corrupted files with a correct copy. Additionally, the SFC can also try to repair any changes or corruption in the file cache.

Method #3: Run DISM Scan

If the System File Checker (SFC) tool is unable to resolve the issue, try using the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool instead as it is more powerful. This process may take some time depending on the number of files on your computer. After the process is complete, restart your Windows computer and it should function properly.

To use DISM, follow these steps:

  • Click the search button and search for “Command Prompt“
  • Right-click the icon and select “Run as administrator“
  • In the Command Prompt, type the command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press “enter.”
  • Wait for 2-5 minutes for the program to fix any damaged system files.

Method #4: Reset Your PC

Another way to repair Windows 11/10 is to reset your PC. This will remove apps and settings, but you can choose to keep or remove your personal files. Before resetting, make sure to back up your data. To reset, follow the steps below:

  • Click “Start” > “Settings” > “Update & Security” > “Recovery”
  • Under “Reset this PC“, choose “Get Started”
  • Select “Keep my files” or “Remove everything”
  • Click “Next” on the pop-up window
  • Finally, click “Reset” on the “Ready to reset this PC” screen to reinstall Windows.

Wrapping It Up

Repairing Windows 10 and 11 can be a straightforward process when following the right steps. Whether you are dealing with a corrupted system file or a malfunctioning update, the solutions outlined in this guide can help you troubleshoot and fix the issue. With the right tools and knowledge, you can quickly get your Windows operating system back in working order.
