You can take a screenshot on your Apple Watch just like any other Apple device. However, taking screenshots on an Apple Watch is a little different than taking screenshots on an iPhone. Unlike other Apple mobile devices, the screenshot shortcut on the Apple Watch must be explicitly enabled before it can be used.

How to Enable the Screenshot Feature on Apple Watch

Let’s begin with enabling the screenshot feature on Apple Watch before proceeding on how to take the screenshot.

  • First, unlock your Apple Watch and use the Digital Crown to access the main menu.
  • After that, look for the Settings icon and tap it to open a new menu.
  • Then, tap the “General” option.
  • Scroll down and select “Screenshots” from the drop-down menu.
  • Finally, turn on the feature by tapping “Enable Screenshots.” When the icon is active, it should turn green.

Now that you’ve successfully enabled the feature, you can proceed to take a screenshot on your Apple Watch by tapping both the Digital Crown and the side button at the same time. If your Apple Watch isn’t in Silent mode, you should be able to hear the photo-capturing sound and feel a little vibration anytime you’re taking a screenshot.

Final Words

That’s all you need to take screenshots on your Apple Watch. You might be wondering where all of your screenshots would go and where you can see them now that you’ve taken them on your Apple Watch. Well, you can retrieve your Apple Watch screenshots through your iPhone’s Photo library if your Apple Watch is paired to your iPhone and updated to the most recent software update available.
