While Google will likely release the July 2023 security patch update later today, Samsung is already rolling out the latest patch to its Galaxy S23 series. That makes them the first OEM to release the update, but we expect other companies to start seeding the build soon.
Samsung has been the first company to release the latest security patch update for months now, ahead of Google. The Korean company has remained consistent, unlike Google, that’s finding it difficult to release a new patch on the supposed first Monday of the month. We hope to see Pixel phones receive the update later today, but only Samsung users can install it now.
The July 2023 security patch update for the Galaxy S23 series is available for the carrier-locked version of the device. Those on T-Mobile are getting a 424 MB-sized update with a version number S91xUSQS1AWFD.
As usual, the build has bumped the Android security patch level to July 2023 while improving system security. It resolved some bugs, but due to the size, we don’t expect any new features. Hopefully, the supposed “big update” for the S23 series will bring some.
