Xiaomi has started pushing the July security patch for the Mi A2 Lite in what could be the last security update. The device was released in July 2018, running stock Android 8.1 outside of the box. As a device launched under the Android One program, it becomes eligible for two Android OS upgrades and three years of security support. It upgraded to Android 9 in 2019 and got the Android 10 update early last year. Of course, the device has continued to receive maximum support, but given the Android One policy, it seems the journey ends here.
And if that’s the case, what a journey that has been. Of course, there were ups and downs, possibly why the Xiaomi Mi A-series was suspended. No Android One OS upgrade didn’t brick the device or introduce a major bug, but that’s in the past now as all the devices in the series are nearing the end of their security support. And it seems the stable V11.0.21.0 QDLMIXM build seeding for the global Mi A2 Lite is the last of the bunch. The update brings the July security patch to increase system security and stability. It also addressed some of the underlying problems while enhancing device performance.
As usual, it’s a staged rollout and will arrive on all eligible units over the next few days. There’s a link below to download the build, and luckily, Xiaomi has made public the Recovery, Fastboot, and OTA ROM. Alternatively, you should check for the July security patch for Mi A2 Lite via System Updates and install from there. But in a situation the update isn’t there, you should give it some time and check back.
