It is customary for Google to release security patches at the beginning of each month. While the security patch for Pixel phones may have experienced a delay this month, the same cannot be said for the Pixel Watch. The June 2023 update for Google Pixel Watch is now being rolled out to users.
Details of the June 2023 update for Google Pixel Watch
The Pixel Watch has received an update to the June 5, 2023 security patch level. The new build number is RWDC.230605.004, indicating an update from last month’s build number of RWDA.230114.013. While Google’s changelog does not specify any particular modifications, it does mention “bug fixes and improvements for Pixel Watch users” alongside the standard security patch.
According to Google, the rollout of this update will occur in phases over the next week, depending on the carrier and device. To initiate the download, you can continuously tap the “Your watch is up to date” screen within the Settings menu (Settings > System > System updates). Additionally, you can speed up the update process by deactivating Bluetooth in the Connectivity settings, forcing Wi-Fi to take over.
It’s worth noting that the backdrop of the System updates screen now appears gray instead of black, drawing attention to the Pixel Watch’s larger bezels. Additionally, the PIN pad on the watch now features larger numbers, which is a modification aimed at improving the user experience. Meanwhile, we’ve also got the Android 13 QPR3 delayed by the Big G which can be traced to the dominance of the Android 14 beta releases.
