Alongside the sleek iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura, Apple debuted the latest Apple Watch update, WatchOS 9 at the WWDC2 as well. However, as interesting as it is to announce this news, it has been reported that the latest Apple Watch update breaks Spotify Streaming.
What’s with the latest Apple Watch update?
Well, no doubt the latest Apple Watch update, WatchOS 9 is sleek but Spotify has reported a bug that stops streaming when the update is installed and thus warned users not to install the software. After the release of the update, Spotify noticed the issue and moved to release an announcement for Apple Watch users.
“Apple WatchOS 9 introduced a bug that causes Spotify Streaming on Apple Watch to stop working. We urge Spotify Apple Watch users not to install the WatchOS 9 update until Apple has implemented a fix for the issue. Users who are already affected can instead download their content to their Apple Watch and listen offline or stream from their phones.”
According to what users said after installing the latest Apple Watch Update, the music continues showing its progress on the screen but with the audio missing. The issue applies to both WiFi and cellular networks but there seems to be no issue with the Spotify app on the Apple Watch.
Well, Apple further rolled out the WatchOS 9.1 beta and surprisingly, this issue wasn’t mentioned in the release notes. This leads us to a comment from an individual on MacRumors that puts the blame tag on Spotify. We’re yet to confirm if the issue is from Apple software or if Spotify needs an upgrade, either way, time will tell as either of them has to make a move to curb this problem.
