Latest Google Tv update brings performance boost and app hibernation to free storage

Google Tv is one of the hardware from Google that gets updates from time to time to achieve a higher functionality or to bump up the security level. In the case of the update rolling out today, it’s the earlier. By that, we mean, the latest Google Tv update brings performance boost and app hibernation in free storage.

Further details of the latest Google Tv update

The Big G, Google, explained what we are expecting from the latest Google Tv update. But first off, it is worth noting that the update is rolling out to all Google TVs and Chromecast. Moving further, we have the features of the Google Tv update. According to Google, this new version will be available for both devices and remotes, to minimize “wait time” while starting up your device, as well as the reaction time between pushing a button and actions occurring on screen. These upgrades are reportedly already being distributed to all users.

The second feature of the Google Tv update has to do with storage. Apps that haven’t been used in the past 30 days will automatically “hibernate” on Google TV. App hibernation on Google TV will remove the app from your system when it is not in use, but it will preserve critical data locally so you can go back to work fast when you want to. This will, however, require a device running at least Android TV 12. This includes Chromecast with Google TV, but not all televisions and set-top boxes.

So there you have it, the storage and performance boost features of the latest Google Tv update. While these are the main features and look like they are the only features hidden within the update, don’t be surprised to see the optimization increased as there might still be under-the-hood tweaks. Oh well, good job from Google rolling out a Google Tv update after the quiet Pixel watch update.
