The Snapdragon 660 SoC has been with us for couple of months now and most mid-range phones have the chip running in them. Currently, we have got a long list of snapdragon 660 phones, but we’ll be focusing on recently unveiled devices running the SoC in 2019.

Meanwhile, Snapdragon 660 is built on 14nm process and comes with the most powerful Qualcomm features. It is the first Qualcomm 600 tier chip to support Qualcomm Hexagon DSP with Vector extension among other interesting specs. They include Artificial Intelligence Engine, Spectra ISP, Kryo CPU built on ARM Cortex.

The Hexagon 680 DSP is engineered to massively improve not only the performance but also the battery life. The Kryo CPU according to Qualcomm has 20% higher performance compared to the predecessor. It has power clusters, each designed to enhance users experience on a mobile platform. Adreno 512 GPU takes care of the graphics for enhanced details representation and 3D image processing.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC implements Spectra 160 ISP camera module. It is constructed to support up to a 25MP single camera or 16MP dual camera for optimal video and photography performance. For fast network connectivity, the chip integrates X12 modem that delivers 600Mbps download speed and 150Mbps upload speed. The Wi-Fi coverage is also designed to deliver a powerful signal, even in worst conditions.

The Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 technology designed to get dilapidated battery to 50% in 15 minutes is what will be achievable on most Snapdragon 660 phones.

Nokia X71 is the latest device to feature Snapdragon 660 SoC, first on our list of snapdragon 660 phones and also the first device from HMD to sport the punch hole selfie camera. The device is tipped to rival the Galaxy S10 in terms of design, taken that it sport likely front design and never in performance.

The device is designed around a 6.39-inch IPS LCD display of 1080 x 2316 px resolution on an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, thanks to the thin bezel. Nokia X71 has triple rear camera arrangement consisting of 48MP main snapper, 8MP ultrawide lens and 5MP telephoto shooter, with features like Zeiss Optics, HDR, Dual-LED Flash, and Panorama. You get a decent 3500mAh battery that supports 18W fast charge via USB-C port and a capacitive reader.

Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 660 SoC is paired with 6GB and 128GB internal with provision for expansion using MicroSD to achieve up to 512GB extra storage.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7

Occupying the second position on out list of Snapdragon 660 phones in 2019 is Redmi Note 7. The device will have a likely performance with the Nokia X71 but will likely offer more in terms of power performance, with it’s 4000mAh battery.

The price also puts the Nokia X71 off with the Redmi Note 7 currently on sale for $199. Unfortunately, you get only a dual 48MP + 5MP rear cameras and single 13MP selfie snapper. Also, you get bigger storage with Nokia X71 and slight higher multitasking because of the 6GB RAM option.

Vivo Z3x

Vivo Z3x makes it to our list of Snapdragon 660 phones with some great features and the least affordable. The device has a 6.26-inch LCD Full-HD display, with a notch and thin bezel. It falls behind the Nokia X71 with nearly no bezel and punch-hole camera to leave a big body-to-screen ratio. The camera is a 12MP + 2MP dual modules, and a single 13MP selfie snapper, which falls way behind the Redmi Note 7 and Nokia X71.

However, the device will sell at $180, giving it an edge over the above devices. It also has some gaming features; Game Turbo and System Turbo that allocates resources to where they’re needed. Unfortunately, you get only a 3260 mAh battery, which is likely not to be enough for you to enjoy the gaming session. But depending on your budget, you can always choose from the list.

Redmi Note 7S

After the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro 2 million sales in just 2 months, Redmi needed to use that opportunity to reach even more customers. They did that by releasing the Redmi Note 7S, making it the second device from the brand to feature in our list of Snapdragon 660 phones in 2019.

The device has likely specs with the Note 7, starting from the 6.3-inch IPS LCD display to the dual 48MP primary sensor paired with 5MP depth effect lens. You also get the same power system of a 4000mAh battery capacity with 18W fast battery charging. Out of the box, Redmi Note 7S will run Android Pie on top MIUI 10.

From specs, the Note 7S is probably for the Indian customers while Note 7 remains only on sale in China. Therefore, depending on your location, you can always make a choice between the two Mid-rangers.

HMD Global unveils Nokia 7.2 with a Snapdragon 660 SoC, the second time the SoC is featuring in Nokia phone in 2019. As the second Nokia device on our list of Snapdragon 660 phones in 2019, it comes with some compelling features mostly on the display.

The device has a 6.3-inch FHD+ 19.5:9 aspect ratio panel with HDR 10 PureDisplay, 500nits brightness, 96% NTSC color gamut, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The SD 660 SoC, is paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal memory expandable up to 512GB. Out of the box, the device will run Android Pie, upgradeable to Android 10.

At the back of Nokia 7.2 is a triple camera headed by a 48MP snapper, accompanied by an 8MP 118° ultra-wide-angle lens and 5MP depth sensor. On the front notch is a 20MP Quad pixel snapper with ZEISS Optics.

There’s a 3500mAh battery that charges via USB-C port. Other features of the device include NFC, Fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, Google Assistant button, LED light, and FM Radio.

As it is now, not too many devices have debuted with the Snapdragon 660 chip and coupled the fact that more enhanced Snapdragon 675 SoC is here, we might as well not see much SD 660 phones this year. Nevertheless, we keep updating the list accordingly as new device are unveiled.
