Qualcomm keeps bridging the gap between the premium and mid-range phones with its 700-series SoC. Recently, the company announced a new Snapdragon 732G SoC, which boasts of 15% uplift performance compared to the predecessor. Unfortunately, the chip doesn’t support 5G connectivity, and now, they’ve released an improved Snapdragon 750G SoC and is 5G-enabled.

According to Qualcomm, the first Snapdragon 750G phones will debut at the tail of this year, and Xiaomi will be the first OEM to feature the SoC. Meanwhile, the SoC is built on an 8nm manufacturing process and makes use of Kryo 570 Octa-Core CPU with a maximum frequency of 2.2Hz.

The new Kryo 570 CPU has improved performance of up to 20% compared to the predecessor, with the Adreno 619 GPU boasting of 10% improvement. The AI performance also increased to about 20%, thanks to the Qualcomm 5TH generation AI engine.

Also, Snapdragon 750G phones will be a gaming power-house. The SoC is equipped with Snapdragon Elite gaming features, which has improved the graphics rendering by x2. There’s also what the company calls Qualcomm Game Plus to improve colors and details in games. And like most Qualcomm premium SoC, SD 750 phones will get GPU updates in real-time, thanks to the updateable GPU drivers. 

Behind the camera performance of the Snapdragon 750G phones is the Qualcomm Spectra 355L image signal processor. It can support dual 16MP cameras and a single sensor up to 192MP. There are HDR10 video capture support and slow-motion video capture: 720p@240fps. The SoC supports QHD display @60Hz and 120Hz on FHD+ displays.

For internet connectivity, SD 750 phones can reach 3.2Gbps on 5G peak download speed. They will make use of Qualcomm X52 modem with support for both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G. Other features of the SoC include Quick Charge 4+, Aqstic Audio codec, USB 3.1, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and biometric authentication (fingerprint, iris, voice, and face).

Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite

The Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite is the first Snapdragon 750G-powered phone. As the first SD 750G phone, it features amazing specs, and more importantly, an affordable price tag.

The device has a 6.67-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1080p+. It features adaptive 120Hz, which can intermediate to 30Hz, depending on the screen content. Also on the front panel is a punch hole for the 16MP selfie shooter enclosed by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

At the back is a Quad-camera arrangement of a primary 64MP shooter, an 8MP ultrawide-angle lens, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor. It draws power from a 4820mAh battery that supports a 33W Fast charge. Meanwhile, the SD 750G SoC is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Other features are 3.5mm headphone jack, IR Blaster, and NFC.

Samsung Galaxy A42

Samsung becomes the second OEM to debut a device Snapdragon 750G phone. The SoC is paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB expandable internal memory. It draws power from a big 5000mAh battery, but the company managed to bring down the weight of the device to 193g.

The camera department houses a primary 48MP sensor, accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide-angle lens, 5MP depth, and 5MP macro shooter, while the front snapper is 20MP. Around the front panel is a 6.6-inch HD+ AMOLED display and underneath is the fingerprint scanner.

Of course, it supports 5G connection and will be offered in Prism Dot Black, Grey, and white starting at €369.

Motorola Moto G 5G

Motorola has now joined the likes of Xiaomi and Samsung to release a Snapdragon 750G phone. The SoC supports a 5G connection and is capable of reaching a peak downlink speed of 3.6Gbps. On the Moto G 5G, you get up to 6GB RAM and an expandable 128GB internal memory.

On the front panel is a 6.7-inch display of 1080p resolution. It has a punch hole for the 16MP selfie shooter, while at the back is a primary 48MP sensor, coupled with 8MP ultrawide-angle and 2MP macro sensor. Power is delivered by a 5000mAh battery with 20W fast charging, while the fingerprint sits at the back. The device is offered in Volcanic Gray and Frosted Silver, starting at $356.

Thus far, our list of Snapdragon 750G phones have just three phones at the moment, but we hope to see OEMs release more phones with the SoC in the coming days. 

Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G

The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is yet another Xiaomi phone to feature on our list of Snapdragon 750G phones. It comes with compelling specs, most of which are similar to that of Mi 10T-Lite, but the camera is another thing. That’s probably the best part of the device as it features Samsung’s HM2 108MP that uses 9-in-1 binning with 2.1 micron pixels. It’s flanked by an additional 8MP ultrawide-angle lens, 2MP depth, and 2MP macro shooter, while the front camera features a 32MP snapper.

Meanwhile, the SD 750G SoC is paired with up 8GB and 256GB internal storage. The 6.67-inch display supports AdaptiveSyn and 240Hz touch sampling. It’ll deliver fluent gaming performance and enhance the user’s experience during streaming. As for power, there’s a 4820mAh battery with 33W fast charging. Other features of the device include IR Blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, and of course, 5G connectivity.
