Google camera app remains the best in the market, but Samsung might be catching up. With the release of the Pixel 8 series, Google introduced Magic Editor, which lets users perform advanced image editing. It include removing unwanted objects from your photos, moving objects, removing or adding clouds to the sky, adding a sunset effect, and reframing a photo. These features remain exclusive to Google Pixel phones, but will change soon.
Samsung Galaxy S24 series is said to debut with powerful AI tools. It will include a generative AI photo Editor to take on the Google Pixel 8. With the Magic Editor on Samsung phones, users Will be able to perform advanced editing on their pictures, which includes erasing unwanted objects.
Also, the Magic Editor on Samsung phones will support moving unwanted objects in a photo. It can generate and fill the empty spaces in the photo into a new area outside the original photo. Of course, all these will be possible with the use of AI.
Meanwhile, it is the Samsung Galaxy S24 series to debut with the feature. The Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra will support Magic Editor. It’s unclear whether older phones will get it with a future update, and we hope to find out after the Galaxy S24 official unveiling, rumored for January 17.
How will the Magic Editor on Samsung phones work?
It seems Samsung is copying Google’s technique of processing in the cloud. Samsung users will have to sign in with their Samsung account with an active internet connection to use the Magic Editor. We hope to learn more about the feature in the coming days, probably during the Galaxy unpacked event.
