Google releases May 2022 security patch bulletin as it starts rolling out the latest patch to pixel phones

Samsung might have been rolling out the May 2022 security patch, but the security and privacy vulnerabilities patched by the build remained unknown till now. Google has released the May 2022 security patch bulletin detailing all security vulnerabilities patched by the latest update.

The May 2022 security patch bulletin highlights vulnerabilities affecting Android runtime, framework, system and media framework. Also, the vulnerabilities in closed-source vendor components and Linux kernel. Fortunately, these vulnerabilities are patched with the latest patch update dating 2022 – 05-05. May 2022 security patch for Google Pixel phones

With the May 2022 security patch bulletin released, Pixel phones have starting getting the update. The build is available for eligible Pixel phones with a build number SP2A-220505-002. Interestingly, the latest update includes a patch for the Dirty Pipe Vulnerabilities (CVE-2022-0847) for affected pixel phones. 

Also, the May 2022 security patch for Google Pixel improves haptic feedback on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. It addresses the occasional waking up of the screen without any interaction while the launcher crashing after restarting the device is resolved. 

Of course, it’s an OTA bound rollout and will take some time before arriving for everyone. Depending on your Pixel device, you will receive the update according to the build number below;
