Xiaomi, sub-brand, POCO are known for offering Redmi and Mi phones at an affordable price. The POCO M3, which got a Pro version earlier this year, is one of the company’s budget smartphones. It debuted late last year with Android 10 on top of MIUI 12, making it eligible for the latest iteration of MIUI and Android 11. With the way things are at the moment, both updates are not ready for the device, and hence, the May security patch for POCO M3 starts seeding instead.
Of course, plans are already in place to upgrade the POCO M3 to Android 11, but it seems the update will be alongside MIUI 12.5. Xiaomi has been swiftly rolling out the new iteration of its MIUI for some time now, with only a few POCO phones currently running the build. We expect more devices from the sub-brand to receive the update soon, including the POCO M3. And while we wait for the update, we recommend that you download the May security patch for POCO M3 to fortify your device ahead of the upgrades.
The update is currently available for everyone running the Global Stable ROM. It has a version number – MIUI 12.0.8.0 QJFMIXM – and weighs in at 575MB. Coming along with the update is the May 2021 security patch to increase system security and stability. You can check for the update via the Updater app or use the link below to download and flash using the recovery method.
Concerning when the POCO M3 will start getting MIUI 12.5, there’s no ETA at the moment. We expect that to happen soon, and hence, you should keep an eye on our tracker page for new information.
