Xiaomi Android One updates have their flaws but have been consistent over the years. That looked to have changed for Mi A2 in the last couple of months, suggesting that the device has elapsed it support. Of course, going by the Android One Policy that promises “three years security support” for Android One phones, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is on its last days. However, the device still has some time as a new update starts seeding for the global models.
The last Xiaomi Mi A2 security patch update arrived in March, meaning the April build was skipped. It is unclear what happened, and probably there’s a bug on the intended build, so it was suspended until now. The device is currently receiving a new stable update globally, which brings the May security patch to increase system security and stability. As usual, it has fixed some bugs and improved the performance of the device.
Meanwhile, the May security patch for Xiaomi Mi A2 has a version number – V11.0.26.0 QDIMIXM. It’s based on Android 10, and there are no plans of sending a new OS update to the device. The device has picked up two Android OS updates: Android 9 and 10, which is the maximum for Android One phones. At this stage, the only way to get Android 11 is by flashing custom ROM. However, that’ll cost you the monthly security patch updates, but that’s ending soon, anyways.
The current update is a stable release, and hence, will arrive on your device soon. However, you can download the ROM below and flash it manually. Interestingly, the fastboot ROM is now available for those that want a clean flash.
