Latest update: Redmi 8 and 8A starts receiving the MIUI 11
The Redmi 8 and 8A are the latest Xiaomi device to receive the new MIUI Android Custom Skin. The update started arriving in India today and is coming with a version number MIUI 11.0.1.0 PCPINXM on both devices. However, on Redmi 8, the build weighs 600MB while on Redmi 8A, its 554MB package.
The update is Global Stable Version, which according to roadmap supposed to start arriving from November 13. Unfortunately, the package is still based on Android 9 (Pie) but pushes the Android Security Patch to October.
From the MIUI 11.0.1.0 PCPINXM Changelog, it brings the new comprehensive design. You can now customize your screen for full view experience, and remove clutters by switching to Lite Mode. There’s a feature in the setting app that lets you customize fonts, and you also have the option to download new ones. The app icon you might notice has got bigger. You can reduce the size by setting the Home Screen Layout to 5 x 6.
The update also adds new filters to sound, and alarm ringtone. It can switch sounds depending on the weather, and now you wake up to dynamic sounds. There is this feature called Mi Share and Mi Mover for faster transferring of files between two Xiaomi devices.
Ultra-thin battery saver is another MIUI 11.0.1.0 PCPINXM feature that is amazing. When enabled, it disables all the background apps draining your battery and leaves only a few apps on the screen. You get the notification to switch to battery when your battery levels drop to 5%, which then gives you an additional 15 hours for just call and messages.
