The MIUI 12.5 debuted officially on December 28, at an event that also saw the official presentation of the Mi 11. Xiaomi, after the unveiling, started pushing the beta version of the update to the closed beta group. The test is still ongoing, and each subsequent build seems to bring a new feature. In the last couple of days, we have seen new features added to MIUI 12.5 with a beta release.
We first saw a haptic feedback system, and then, a seamless switch between the control center and notification panel. We expect to see more features added to MIUI 12.5 as more beta updates are being rolled out. However, the company would be suspending both the internal and public development beta test of its new Custom Android skin.
Xiaomi, to mark the Chinese New year, will suspend the development beta test of the MIUI 12.5 update. Both the internal and public beta test will be suspended from February 8 to February 19, 2021. That’s exactly 11 days, and during that period, the company will not push a beta update to the closed beta group. They’ll start pushing beta updates again after the 11 days break. And according to the report, internal and public development beta testers will receive an update on February 21.
It’s important to note that the break won’t affect the global update rollout, nor would it delay the stable version release. The Chinese New year has been there, and besides, February 8 – the date for the global unveiling – is when the suspension will start in China. With that, we don’t expect any changes as regards to global update rollout.
Meanwhile, on April 24, the Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Mi CC9e will stop the development beta test. The trio will be delisted from the list and will no longer participate in the beta test. If you’re using any of the phones, you would need to upgrade to a newer Xiaomi phone.
