MIUI 12 update for the Redmi 5 Plus in doubt
There have been a series of queries regarding the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi 5 Plus. Going by the official list released by Xiaomi after the global unveiling of the latest Android skin, the Redmi 5 Plus was completely missing. But that is because the company sold the latter as Redmi Note 5 on the global market, which is in the official list of Xiaomi phones to receive MIUI 12.
However, it’s been months since the device last received an update. The last time Redmi 5 Plus received an update was around November last year, which is going to clock one year very soon. It was the same situation for the Redmi Note 5 but is now receiving a security patch update for August.
Considering the time of arrival, we believe the update is to prepare the device for a seamless transition to MIUI 12. That also gives hope to the Redmi 5 Plus users as both phones have the same development. Until now, there has been a strong belief about the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi 5 Plus arriving very soon. However, there seem to be a doubt going by a Moderator in the Mi community forum.
When replying to a user’s query, who asked if he can have MIUI 12 on his Redmi 5 Plus, he replied, “Dear user unfortunately your device won’t receive MIUI 12 thank you.” Although he stated clearly that the device will not be getting the update, there’s still a chance we see the update arrive before the end of this year. Once the Redmi Note 5 starts getting the update, it won’t be long before it comes to Redmi 5 Plus or vice versa.
Nevertheless, we will still be monitoring the development and will update this post once there’s new information. We’ll also report it here, eventually, when the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi 5 Plus starts seeding.
