Xiaomi executive gives update on MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8

The Redmi Note 8 is yet to start receiving the stable Android 10 update, and is believed the update will arrive alongside the MIUI 12, but when? It’s been over five months since Xiaomi officially introduced its latest Android skin. As of then, the Redmi Note 8 was in a closed beta testing for Android 10, but even till now, there’s no ETA as to when the update will start rolling out.

Recently, Xiaomi announced it has completed the second phase of the MIUI 12 rollout, which gives room for the company to start the third phase. That will see MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8 released, but all hopes were killed a few days ago. Instead of the much-anticipated update, Xiaomi released a MIUI 11 based security update for the device, which means the former has been delayed once again.

Of course, the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8 will happen, however, it’s taking much time to arrive. The delay is said to be a result of compatibility issues but closed beta testers have been receiving the weekly beta MIUI 12 build for months now. We might see the update start arriving soon, given the time the device has been in close beta testing, it should be in the final stages before public rollout.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi executive, Alvin Tse, when asked when the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8 will be available, the executive give a two-word answer, “Still Testing” That response, for sure, is what none of the device users would want to hear, but on the flip side, it’s the right thing to do.

Redmi Note 8 is the most selling Xiaomi phone in 2019-2020, meaning millions of people now use the phone. We have seen the company roll out updates with so many bugs, and in some cases, led to bricking of some devices. It won’t be a wise decision to send out the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8 with any form of bug, which is probably why it has been delayed so many times.

Our advice is to be patient. Xiaomi is working on migrating the device to its latest MIUI skin, and soon enough, the update will be available for everyone.
