On February 1, 2021, Xiaomi released the first Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for the global Redmi Note 9S. The update only made it to few users, given that it was a limited release. Also, some bugs were detected on the build that made the public pushed back. However, it looks like a new Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for the global Redmi Note 9S is now seeding. Interestingly, the update seems to have addressed a few bugs that plague the first release.
Most Xiaomi updates arrive for Mi Pilots ( Stable Beta testers). The idea is to preview each build for bugs before the public rollout. By doing that, it limits the damage that might occur if a performance-threatening bug is detected. That’s what the company did with the first Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for the global Redmi Note 9S. Developers had to delay the public rollout as they address the bugs on the first build, which include “silent calls.”
According to a developer, the latest build that’s now released has fixed that particular issue. The update also brings the March security patch to increase system security, while the performance of the system and stability has improved.
The build will arrive as MIUI 12.1.7.0 RJWMIXM in a 543MB package. As usual, only a few selected users will receive the update to confirm if the reported bugs have been fixed. And, if in the end, everything is smooth, we expect the public rollout to commence in the coming days. Nevertheless, you can side-load the ROM with an authorized Mi Beta account or TWRP Recovery, as that’s the only way to bypass the server lock. Other than that, you might have to wait for the update to arrive via OTA.
