It has since been confirmed that Redmi Note 8 will receive the Android 11 update. Xiaomi has also released the update to Chinese users, but it seems the global models have to wait a bit longer. Hopefully, the experience will be different from that of Android 10 that arrived alongside the MIUI 12 update. Also, we don’t see the device receiving both Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 simultaneously, and hence, we expect the former to start seeding anytime soon. Perhaps, that is why a new global update for the Redmi Note 8 is released to fortify the device ahead of the planned Android 11 upgrade.
The update, as always, is hitting selected users for now. They’ll preview the build for bugs, which is going to last for a couple of days. After a successful beta preview, the new global Redmi Note 8 update will start seeding for the public. It will arrive in a 678MB package, which is big for a security patch build. However, considering users bugs complaint , the new update should fix most, if not all, the reported bugs. Meanwhile, the update has a version number – MIUI 12.0.4.0 QCOMIXM. It has already arrived for those in Europe, and with the global users now receiving the update, it won’t be long until those in India get the update as well. And just maybe, Xiaomi plans to start the Android 11 rollout in India.
