Xiaomi Redmi K20 / Mi 9T remains without MIUI 12.5, and given the situation, it might take some time before the update starts seeding. The update was anticipated to bring Android 11, but Xiaomi had a different idea. They released an Android 11-based MIUI 12 for the device, which left some frustrating bugs, and has probably delayed the MIUI 12.5 rollout. Luckily, the new Redmi K20 / Mi 9T update has supposedly fixed the issue.
After that Android 11 rollout, early adopters reported a series of bugs, which include system lag. Xiaomi, through the newly founded ‘MIUI User Experience Optimization Announcement,’ acknowledged these bugs. Not only that, but they also found the root cause and have addressed it in the latest update rolling out. But as usual, the update is a limited rollout, exclusively for Beta Testers, and it will take some time before it starts seeding to the public.
Meanwhile, the new Redmi K20 / Mi 9T update has a version number – MIUI 12.1.4.0 RFJINXM. Of course, it’s for the Indian variants from the version number. Hopefully, it will extend to other regions facing the same issue in the coming days. Meanwhile, if you’re running the Indian ROM and have an authorized Mi Beta account or TWRP recovery installed, you can download the recovery ROM below and flash.
As per MIUI 12.5 update for the device, there’s currently no ETA. However, since a fixed build for the buggy Android 11 is rolling out, it wouldn’t be long before the build rolls out. And hence, you should keep tabs on our tracker page in that regard. Also, Xiaomi is expected to announce MIUI 13 next month and you can learn all about that from here
