Ahead of the planned Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 upgrade, Xiaomi has started pushing a new update to the European Redmi Note 8 Pro. The update is a security patch, and it could only bump the Android security level. However, we anticipate the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 11 update to start rolling out soon since the Note 8 has started receiving the update in China. Both started testing the build in the same period, and it makes sense the Pro variant will receive a new OS very soon. And while the update seems not ready yet, a new Redmi Note 8 Pro update with the February security patch is currently rolling out in Europe.
As usual, the update is on a limited rollout and might take time before appearing on your device. However, you can install the update manually via the link below, but that may return an error message. When that happens, you should give it some days and try again or wait for the OTA. If everything goes smooth, we expect a wider rollout, which will see the update arrive for everyone in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the new Redmi Note 8 Pro update with the February security patch is hitting eligible users with a version number – MIUI 12.0.4.0 QGGEUXM. It has updated the security patch level to improve the system security while fortifying the device for a seamless transition to Android 11. Unfortunately, we don’t know when the update will start seeding, but it’s a good thing you install this latest build to be among the first few to receive the Android 11.
