It’s confusing keeping up with the Redmi Note 9 series lineup. Xiaomi launched a special edition for the Chinese market late last year, which is currently available globally. The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is a reworked Mi 10T Lite that debuted alongside the Mi 10T/Pro. The latter started receiving the Android 11 update a couple of days ago, and we expect that for the former. However, it seems the update isn’t ready as Xiaomi starts pushing a new Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G update in China.
The update sans the much anticipated Android 11 but available for closed beta group. They’re currently testing the build, and it will roll out to the stable ROM users very soon. But while you wait for the update, a new Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G update, with a version number – MIUI 12.0.10.0 QJSCNXM – is rolling out. It comes in a 491MB package and brings along the February security patch to improve system security. The update also fixed some minor bugs, improve system security, and you can check for it via system updates.
Meanwhile, we have added a link below this post for you to access the ROM. You can download both the Recovery and OTA ROM and flash via the recovery method. However, you may get an error, and that’s because only a few selected users are expected to install the build. When that happens, give it some time and try again or wait for the OTA to start seeding for everyone.
As for the Android 11 update, we don’t have a time frame, and we don’t hope to get any. The update will probably arrive soon since it has already arrived for closed beta members.
