MIUI updates

Redmi Note 9 Pro starts pushing May 2021 security patch ahead of MIUI 12.5 upgrade

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro is among the first few Xiaomi phones to receive a stable Android 11 update. The update arrived for the Indian models in November 2020, which is roughly seven months now. Unfortunately, the device isn’t getting the same treatment as it’s yet to start receiving the stable MIUI 12.5 update. So far, only the Redmi Note 9 series in China have received the update. However, it seems plans are already in place to upgrade the global variants as a new Redmi Note 9 Pro starts seeding in India to fortify the device ahead of the planned upgrade.

New Redmi Note 9 Pro update in India

The new Redmi Note 9 Pro update in India is essentially a patch build, but the package size suggests it brings more. It weighs in at a massive 706MB and has a version number – MIUI 12.0.5.0 RJWINXM. On the log is “Updated security patch to May 2021 to increase system security.” “Location info can now be reported automatically before the device is powered off.” Aside from the changes on the update log, minor bugs have been fixed as we wait for MIUI 12.5.

As usual, the update is on a limited rollout pending the outcome of the preview. And, if in the end, there’s no system-threatening bug detected, the public rollout will commence. However, you can download the new Redmi Note 9 Pro update in India via the link below. But you might need an authorized Mi beta account to flash the ROM or TWRP Recovery. In the absence of both, you should wait for the OTA to arrive in the coming days.
