Few hours after updating the Redmi 8A and Redmi 7A to the latest Android security patch, Xiaomi is now rolling out a new update for Mi 9 Lite. The update brings the December security patch, alongside bug fixes and system optimization. But as usual, the build will only arrive for limited users for preview, but we expect the public rollout to commence in the coming days.
The new update for Mi 9 Lite has a version number, MIUI 12.0.5.0 QFCMIXM, and weighs in at 557MB. The global ROM users are the ones getting a new OTA update, which will arrive with the below changes:

We expect the update to extend to other regions in the coming days. Meanwhile, for those running the global ROM on their Mi 9 Lite, there’s a link below this post from where you can download the recovery and OTA ROM. When flashing the ROM, you encounter any error, know it’s because the public rollout hasn’t been initiated. You are expected to give it some days and then try back.
As for the Mi 9 SE, the new update is also hitting the global users. If you’re running the global ROM on your Mi 9 SE, you will receive a MIUI 12.0.3.0 QFBMIXM update. It comes with the security patch for December and has improved the system security as well. Also, it brings optimization for the control center layout in landscape mode. The European and Russian version of the duo starts receveing the December security patch update as well. The update will arrive via OTA, but you can download the Recovery and OTA ROM for the Mi 9 Lite EEA version. It has a version number, MIUI 12.0.5.0 QFCEUXM. The new update for the Mi 9 SE brings the February security patch update to improve system security. It has a version number – MIUI 12.0.4.0 QFBEUXM – and weighs in at 737MB. You can download the ROM here: Recovery | OTA (Apply from v12.0.3.0).
