Xiaomi again becomes the first smartphone brand to debut a phone with a recently launched Snapdragon Chipset. It was the same scenario with Snapdragon 636, which first featured in Redmi Note 5 Pro, now the Xiaomi MI 9 SE has debuted with SD 712 SoC.

The phone, however, featured other interesting specs like a massive display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. It has a triple rear camera arrangement complemented with a Dual-LED Flash, while on the front notch is a single camera shooter.

The Xiaomi MI 9 SE specs also include a decent battery that supports 18W charging via USB 2.0. There’s an on-screen identification reader and out of the box, it’ll run Android 9 on top MIUI 10 UI.

Display

Sitting in front of the Xiaomi MI 9 SE is a 5.97-inch Super AMOLED display. It features 1080 x 2340px resolution, taking the pixel density to 403PPI and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It does come with HDR, but unfortunately lack the DCI-P3 that came with MI 9, quite easy to understand though. The screen, however, has a massive 84.5% body-to-screen ratio, thanks to the tiny bezel and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to make sure everything has a bit of durability.

Performance

The Xiaomi MI 9 SE will perform better than Xiaomi MI 8 SE, at least 10%. This is because it comes with the newest Snapdragon 712 SoC that boost of improved performance to SD 710 processor. The former is built on a 10nm process with kryo 360 Octa-core clocked at 2.3GHz, comes only in two memory combos: 6/64GB and 6/128GB. Camera

On the helm of affairs is the 48MP Sony® IMX586 shooter, basically a 12MP lens that has 1.6um pixel and a real-time HDR. It’s accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide snapper and 8MP telephoto lens with Phase Detection Autofocus. Xiaomi had to ditch the capacitive fingerprint scanner completely to make room for an ultrasonic reader. The scanner according to Xiaomi is not like anything we’ve seen before because is more accurate and fast. Reviews have shown the scanner isn’t bad but then, is no way near the capacitive scanner.
