The Redmi Note 8 is among the Xiaomi phones yet to fully receive the stable MIUI 12 update. Some Global Redmi Note 8 users haven’t received the update for the first time because the first build that arrived months ago was buggy and made it impossible for them to upgrade. The affected users got a stable MIUI 11 update to fix the bug, but that didn’t work as they are haven’t received the MIUI 12 update yet.
Xiaomi has already promised to roll out a new update for Redmi Note 8 in the coming weeks and it seems the update is in the final stages of development. According to a new report, we might start seeing a new update arrive for the global Redmi Note 8 users next week. Those running the affected versions: MIUI 11.0.11.0 and MIUI 11.0.12.0, are expected to receive a new stable MIUI 12 update next week. If you’re running any other version aside from those two, you should check the updater app or follow this link to download the ROM and flash manually.
Meanwhile, it’s the official Xiaomi Support on Twitter, in response to a user query that alleged a new update for Redmi Note 8 to start seeding next week. According to the tweet, “The update for MIUI 12 Global for Redmi Note 8 based on V11.0.12.0 is about to be released next week after we have fixed all the issues, please kindly stay tuned.” The tweet didn’t give assurance, though, but hopefully, the update will arrive next week.
After Xiaomi must have finalized upgrading all the Redmi Note 8 units to MIUI 12, it will then start pushing the Android 11 update. The device is currently testing the update, and that’s why it missed out on the beta version of the MIUI 12.5. We expect the first Android 11 build for Redmi Note 8 to arrive next month for the closed beta testers. After that, it will be the stable rollout, and you can keep up with the updates via our Android 11 update tracker.
