[Update: 25/05/2021] Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Redmi Y3 start getting a new update in India

At a time, it looked like Xiaomi has forgotten the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Redmi Y3. The former has already bagged the MIUI 12 update, though, while the former runs Android Pie on top of MIUI 11. It’s now getting a new stable update, which comes with a stable Android 10, but sans the MIUI 12 build. Meanwhile, Xiaomi, some months ago, announced the device wouldn’t be receiving the update due to compatibility, alongside the Redmi 7 and 6A. However, the Redmi 7, a couple of weeks ago, received the update in China, and with that, we thought the update will come to Redmi Y3, but that not the case now. 

Xiaomi is currently rolling out a new update for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Redmi Y3 in India. It’s arriving on the former as MIUI 12.0.3.0 QJXINXM and weighs in at 593MB. On the changelog is the February security patch and improved system security and stability. It also fixed minor bugs while fortifying the device for MIUI 12.5 and Android 11. As for the Redmi Y3, the update brings a stable Android 10. It comes in a 1.9GB package with a version number – MIUI 11.0.5.0 QFFINXM. The build has pushed the security patch level to January 2021 to improve system security and performance.

As usual, the new update for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Redmi Y3 are beta stable. Only a few selected users will get the update to preview it. After nearly three months without an update, Redmi Note 9 Pro is currently receivng a new stable MIUI 12.0.4.0 QJXINXM update in India. It sans the Android 11 update while pushing the Android security patch level to increase system security and stability.
