This past week has seen many reports claiming that the Xiaomi Mi A3 Android Q update isn’t rolling out yet because of the Coronavirus. But while that might be true, a new Xiaomi MI A3 update started arriving yesterday to stir up confusion, and again making people believe that Xiaomi has given up on Android 10 for their Android One phone.
But if the epidemic is the reason for the delay, why then is the phone receiving a new update, didn’t the virus affect the rollout as well? Well, it’s been Xiaomi Twitter handles giving us all this fake information as Xiaomi is yet to make any official announcement concerning the Android Q for their Android One phone. However, with the new Xiaomi MI A3 update, it may be the update is not ready yet or that there’s a compatibility issue with the device.
Meanwhile, the new Xiaomi A3 update is arriving with the February Android Security Patch from Google, which improves the system security while fixing some bugs. It also improves system stability and optimizes performance. Unfortunately, it’s based on Android Pie and comes with a build number MIUI 10.3.15.0. It’s an 84.6GB package.
The update is being rolled out in batches and is already making it to some Mi A3 device. You can check for the update by navigating to Settings> About phone> System update. You are advised to download the update using Wi-Fi, as using a mobile network will incur an additional charge. And if the update is yet to arrive, be patient and check back later.

And while we are still waiting for the Android 10 update, its necessary to download the new Xiaomi Mi A3 update, which we believe fortifies the device for the Android Q upgrade. However, there’s still no official time frame as to when the update will start rolling out. For now, the only time frame we have is March, according to Xiaomi France. But we advise you to take everything with a pinch salt after the mid-February date given by Xiaomi India didn’t materialize.
