Xiaomi is currently sending out an invite for an event, which will be held in China on December 28. The company is going to launch the Mi 11 series on that day, which is also the MIUI 12.5 launch date going by a new report. That nulls the previous rumor that alleged December 29 launch date.
We expect the Chinese OEM to release an official list of its phones that’ll receive the update and their plans of rolling out the update to eligible users on MIUI 12.5 launch day, which is December 28. But it’s obvious the new Mi 11 series will debut running MIUI 12.5, which makes it the first Xiaomi phone to run the new Android skin. We also expect the closed beta release immediately after the launch, and hence, we expect the company to start recruiting new beta testers in the coming days.
Meanwhile, we have a provisional list of Xiaomi phones that’ll receive the update, and you can check it out here. Also, some of the features of the MIUI 12.5 has supposedly arrived for closed beta testers and high-end Xiaomi phones, and for that, we expect a wider rollout with the next iteration of MIUI.
According to the Xiaomi executive, MIUI 12.5 will focus on system optimization and stability. And also will introduce features like adding device frame to screenshot, a new way of converting photos to PDF on the gallery app, desktop mode, a new cleaner UI, a new power menu, and lots more. We expect to confirm some of these features after the MIUI 12.5 launch, which is only a few days from today.
That said, we will be on the lookout for additional information concerning the MIUI 12.5, especially when the beta recruitment is going to start. As usual, we’ll update this space once we get any new information, but you can check here for how to join the MIUI beta tester team.
