It has been some months since Xiaomi officially announced the Mi 10T-Lite globally. The device has also been introduced in India, where it answers Mi 10i with few tweaks, while in China, it’s known as Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. The trio runs Android 10 on top of MIUI 12 outside-of-the-box and without an official TWRP Recovery for the device, flashing custom ROMs hasn’t been that easy. Luckily, the official TWRP Recovery for Mi 10i/Mi 10T Lite/Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has been officially released. It should be easy now to flash a custom recovery, customize and root your device.
Meanwhile, for starters, TWRP means Team Win Recovery Project. It’s an open-source custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows installing third-party firmware. TWRP Recovery also helps to back up the current system, which is a function often unsupported by stock recovery images.

According to folks on XDA, there aren’t many third-party ROM available for the device. That’s probably due to the lack of an official TWRP Recovery. However, we are likely to see developers start releasing ROMs and mods as they can now test them before releasing them to the public. And hopefully, we expect to start seeing new custom ROMs for the Mi 10i/Mi 10T Lite/Redmi Note 9 Pro very soon.
Meanwhile, note that the decision to install TWRP on your device is down to you. Team Win will not be responsible for any damage that may occur from installing or using TWRP Recovery. It is recommended that you always download the latest version, and if you have any of the above-mentioned devices, you should download the official TWRP here.
