Since the release of the Galaxy S24 series with Galaxy AI, users have been asking when older phones will receive the One UI 6.1 update, which will deliver the features. And while only select phones will receive the update, Samsung has now announced when it will start rolling it out.
As expected, the Galaxy S23 series will receive the update initially, with other phones expected to get it ater. Among the phones that will start getting the new AI features are the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23 Plus, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip5, and Galaxy Z Fold5.
Samsung already confirmed the update will start rolling out in March, but we now have a date. According to reports, eligible users will start seeing the OTA on Thursday, March 28, 2024. As usual, the rollout will start in select regions and might take weeks before it becomes available for everyone.
We expect the rollout to start in Korea, given the community forum post, hinting that March 28 is the big day. Samsung China also agrees, meaning both regions might receive the update first. The report suggests that Galaxy S23 FE is among the first wave of the rollout, which is different from the previous rollout when the FE series gets a major upgrade later.
Samsung might release the One UI 6.1 update with the March security patch, though we have seen the company release a new patch before the start of a new month. We expect the update to arrive with the April security patch unless the company plans to release another update during April.
