The next generation of Samsung flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, is upon us and sources say it should be unveiled by February 1, 2023. Oh well, it has been confirmed that the smartphone will be taking up the OneUI 5.1 on the software front.
Given the S23 series taking the OneUI 5.1, the brand has begun testing it(internally) on the current flagships, that is, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. The update is taking up firmware version S90XEXXU2CVL7 and will be rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S22 series after the launch of the S23 series (most probably). The Korean tech giant might also move further to seed the update in some select Galaxy smartphones within a small period.
As regards features, OneUI 5.1 is based on Android 13 so the features should be similar to OneUI 5.0. According to SamMobile, there should be preserved lock screen customizations, new media player widgets, partial screen mirroring and taskbar improvements – there should be some other changes under the hood.
Enjoying OneUI 5.1 on the other Galaxy S23 features
The Galaxy S23 series looks like a good successor to the Galaxy S22 series given its hardware features and together with the OneUI 5.1 software integration, you should have a smooth experience. But what hardware features?
First off, the camera. The camera seen in the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ designs is likened to that on the S22 Ultra. Each camera sensor bears its hollow structure, no more the islands that group camera sensors together. Although this feature was present on just the S22 Ultra, it seems it will be spreading to all the Samsung Galaxy S23 series.
As regards display, there isn’t anything new – still the full display and a centred hole punch that bears the selfie camera – however, the Samsung Galaxy S23+ will be a bit bigger than the S22+ at the same 6.6 inches but 157.7 x 76.1 x 7.6mm different from the latter which has dimensions 157.4 x 75.8 x 7.6 mm.
According to Yogesh Brar, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series bear a 200MP main camera(which is an upgrade compared to its predecessor), a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto capable of 3x optical zoom alongside another 10MP telephoto lens capable of 10x optical zoom.
Meanwhile, there have been some earlier rumours about some other Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra specs. Some talked of the smartphone featuring the sensor-shift OIS (present on the last two generations of iPhone) but this has been confirmed. That said, the feature should be present in the 40MP front-facing camera.
The Korean tech giant didn’t make any changes in the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus rear camera setups but the front-facing camera should be getting some enhancements. Also, the four Samsung Galaxy S23 colour options we are expecting from the Korean Tech giant are Beige, Black, Green and Light.
